2024/2025 Principal’s Message

Oki! Welcome to the 2024/2025 school year! Our entire staff at F.P. Walshe School is grateful for the opportunities that lie ahead as we strive to provide exceptional learning opportunities for all our students.

At F.P. Walshe School we are very proud of our diversity and the unique talents of all of our staff and students. Located on Treaty 7 territory, we are fortunate to work with and learn from our Blackfoot neighbors from both the Piikani and Kainai nations. We will continue to follow and live our vision/mission/motto statements of: Vision: A place to learn and belong   Mission: Empower personal growth through meaningful relationships    Motto: We Are Walshe. These three statements speak to our core values and beliefs at F.P. Walshe, and we will collaboratively be focused on enhancing our school culture through building connections and positive relationships with all our stakeholders.

As a grade 6-12 school, we are striving to have everyone who walks through our doors feel a strong sense of belonging. As a staff, we are working on two school goals: 1. Academic growth for all learners and 2. A collaborative culture for our school community. To achieve this, we are focusing our professional development efforts on improving our instructional practices. In addition, we will be seeking more stakeholder input from staff, students, and guardians on how we can improve the educational experience for our students. We will continue to provide our students with outstanding academic, athletic, arts, and extra-curricular opportunities throughout the year as we live our motto of: We Are Walshe!

I am entering my fifth year as principal of F.P. Walshe School and feel fortunate to have the opportunity to work with the staff, students, parents/guardians and community members here in Fort Macleod. We have made many strides over the past four years, and we will be working on continuing to enhance relationships with all of our stakeholders and strengthening community/family ties with the school. We are planning many school events throughout the year and you can stay informed by checking our website: https://www.fpwalsheschool.ca/ or following us on Facebook and Instragram: @fpwalshe or on Twitter: @fp_walshe.

Our entire team appreciates all the support and as always if you have any questions do not hesitate to contact one of us at the school. We look forward to a great year of learning!
