Greg Freer Named Principal of F.P. Walshe School

Livingstone Range School Division is pleased to announce that Greg Freer has been named Principal of F.P. Walshe School in Fort Macleod beginning in the 2025-2026 school year.
Freer holds Bachelor of Education and Masters of Education (Educational Leadership and School Improvement) degrees from the University of Alberta. He has 31 years of teaching experience, the last 25 of which have been with LRSD. Freer has been a school administrator since 2016, including as Principal of Matthew Halton High School in Pincher Creek and most recently as Assistant Principal of F.P. Walshe School.
"We are excited to welcome Greg Freer as the new Principal of F.P. Walshe School," says Richard Feller, Deputy Superintendent of Human & Learning Services. "Having served as Assistant Principal for the past two years, Greg has already built strong relationships with lasting impact, and we are excited to see him bring his wealth of experience, innovative approach, and unwavering commitment to academic excellence to this new role. We are confident Greg will continue to inspire both staff and students alike at F.P. Walshe."
Freer is grateful to continue the relationships with students, staff, and families. "I have appreciated the collaboration and support over the last two years from all stakeholders," says Freer. "I am excited to continue to build upon the solid foundations established in recent years, while also creating new innovative opportunities for our students to best meet their individual needs."
Although he has a few collectable motorcycles that he enjoys, as the weather gets nicer Freer is more likely found mountain biking in the coulees. Freer has been to over 30 countries, many multiple times, and loves to travel with his wife of 28 years, Tania, and their two young adult children.
Congratulations to Greg Freer on his new role.
